Fractional Chief People Officer
Responsibilities
- Accountable for the management and overall success of the Human Resources function
- Serves as a member of the executive leadership team to develop and refine the people strategy in alignment with company goals
- Executes people strategy by designing and implementing HR programs, policies and procedures to ensure people objectives are met
- Assesses current state of HR related processes, provides new ideas for process improvement, creates and implements processes
- Employs change management best practices to foster and develop culture
- First point of contact for all employee relations issues/concerns; conducts investigations and resolves issues in a timely manner
- Ensure proactive, fair, and consistent application of policies and procedures across the organization
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to managers (e.g., coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions, and terminations)
- Partners with hiring managers to support recruitment efforts, including, but not limited to sourcing, job posting, screening, interview coordination, reference checks, applicant communication, and job offers
- Facilitates the new employee on-boarding and orientation program
- Implement, coordinate, and facilitate leadership training for managers around issues of people management, leadership, and HR compliance
- Design and administer annual performance review and goal setting processes
- Develop job descriptions and ensure employee understanding of success factors for their role
- Liaison with PEO to ensure the following activities are conducted in a timely manner:
- Payroll administration
- Benefits plan strategy and plan design
- Facilitates annual open enrollment and responds to employee questions on benefits coverage and claims
- Manage unemployment claims
- Administers worker’s compensation claims, incident reporting and the return-to-work process
- Maintains compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters
- May perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall success of the company

- Ability to manage relationships with employees and other leaders of the organization to impart expertise; serve as a trusted partner and subject matter expert
- Handles confidential information in a professional manner, respecting employee privacy while maintaining company confidentiality
- Skilled at communicating clearly both verbally and in writing
- Maintain a professional demeanor and respond with urgency
- Demonstrated professionalism, tact and poise when dealing with difficult employee issues
- Understanding of discretion needed in handling confidential information and strong commitment to ethical practice
- Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professional integrity
- Capacity to solve a wide range of complex problems; willingness to think out-of-the-box to resolve issues
- Ability to work positively and collaboratively with different groups within the company to advance the company’s stability and growth
Qualifications
- Established consultancy with a successful track record for providing fractional HR leadership
- Relevant industry experience greatly preferred
- Prior experience building the HR foundation for startup organizations a must
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field desired
- 12+ years of HR experience
- PHR, SHPR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred
